The Folkvangr

The lush and sprawling valley in-between the Heimdallr and the Andvari mountain ranges, the Folkvangr is the only fertile ground in the Skarragh province. The valley is at sea level and has a fairly temperate climate compared to the rest of its surroundings. Being surrounded on all sides by mountains, the weather during the warmer months is erratic, as storm clouds are buffeted around from mountain to mountain, causing it to rain in the morning, the noon, then night. As a result, however, the ground is generally fertile, made soft by the rain and many streams that flow down from the mountains. Even in the cold Skarragh province, the ground is supple and it is easy to grow crops. This had made the valley the largest provider of agriculture to Mecone, the Skarragh in general, and even Galdholandet, the mountainous province just to the east and north. Though there are more farms that grow more diverse crops in other areas of the country, the Folkvangr is considered one of the most blessed areas in the land.

While the Folkvangr is populated mostly with farms, there are many small communities all throughout the area. In general, life is simple but busy; the life of a farmer. Even in the communities, money is hard to come by, but no one needs anything. The communities are spread far apart, giving each one a distinct feel and personality. Need for protection is low and mostly needed to help defend against bandits. To that end, a militia can be formed easily, though they are hardly a threat against any organized force.
